The checkered pattern is one of the amazing trends right now, whereas prints in general are very big in the industry. If you choose to be fashionable you may want to add some cool pieces with a checkered pattern to your wardrobe. No matter if it’s a miniskirt or a blazer, or a pair of pants – the options are huge. Or what about a beautiful coat or long scarf in plaid to keep you warm? The trend is all over the place and you have the choice among bright colors, different sizes in the checkered motifs – and there are no restrictions, almost everything goes.
The designers all found their personal plaid love and created their very own pieces in this style.
I chose a look from the Parisian house of Balmain, a highly recognized design empire that is trendsetting and inspiring for the entire fashion world and me. Balmain started his own house in 1945 after having assisted grand brands in Paris. He is known for his very elegant and feminine designs and he has always been one of the Hollywood and European royalty’s favorites. And mine of course.
Here you can see me wearing a Balmain military jacket in a red and black-checkered pattern. It has frayed sleeves and fringes around the bottom of the jacket, a cool touch to a classic jacket. With it I am wearing a Balmain matching plaid pattern high waist miniskirt in the same print. The checkered clothes came into fashion in the 18th century in England and proved until today to be a classy and cool fashion style – what a journey.
Under the jacket you can see a cute intarsia by Red Valentino with red hearts printed on it. I love the mix of patterns and prints and even though being different, they harmonize perfectly.
To stick to the colors, which I recommend is important if you are already wearing so many prints, I slipped into black pumps by Christian Louboutin with the famous red sole. The bag also sticks to the red in the outfit, my Celine Box bag, a timeless and chic bag that rounds the look up.
The big rose gold bracelet is a beautiful fashion piece by the jeweler Schubart, it picks up the shiny parts as in the buttons of my jacket and the buckle on my bag.
The checkered pattern will never disappear from the fashion world and for sure I will always stick to this love!
