Color blocking is one of my favorite trends this season. As I naturally love colors, I really enjoy the combination and mix of strong colors, and to brighten up the streets with my outfit. Especially when the days turn greyer and are shorter in fall, I think some bright tones will help to lighten up the atmosphere a bit. The fashion industry picked up the color-blocking trend in the 60s and designers like Yves Saint Laurent adopted this modern and revolutionary direction. The trend spread quickly and it never went out of fashion since. The important thing is to balance the strong colors out with a more quiet tone, like with light grey or blue items. You can put on a lot of strong colors but never overdo it, then the color blocking doesn’t work.
My look starts off with a bright red cashmere hoodie with pink flowers from the label Heartbreaker. I love the combination of red and pink and the cute flower details make the soft pullover look even cuter. Cashmere feels like your second skin and Heartbreaker creates beautiful designs in this most soothing material. The designs are colorful and playful or simple and clean. You will always find something you can combine with your look.
The next eye-catcher are the color blocking heels from Christian Louboutin. This shoe is a piece of artwork in its mix of amazing colors and an extraordinary shape. They totally represent the color-blocking trend. These shoes are so much fun to play with outfit wise, you can always mix them with a piece in one of the colors.
To balance this outfit out I am wearing a pair of high waist denims by AG Jeans in dark blue. My oversized jeans jacket is from SET, a cool casual piece that I like to mix with different outfits. It’s fun to just let it hang loose down the shoulders, a real fashion piece that shouldn’t miss in your collection.
For a next color block I chose to carry my green Kelly bag by Hermes. The classic piece is a beautiful contrast to the modern and casual style. The Gucci sunglasses finish off the look and you need some shades with all this color around you.
Color blocking is fun and looks great – and it spreads good vibrations, try it out and see what reactions you will get.
