Dinner with friends is my favorite appointment! Especially when I’m travelling a lot there’s nothing better than inviting some friends over to my place for a cozy dinner and selected drinks. I really love to host a party, so I called a friend of mine, who happens to be a chef. Together we planned a special meal, accompanied by delicious Perrier-Jouët champagne and sublime AKI caviar – a menu that would add glamour to an otherwise ordinary grey Sunday.
During the preparations for this dinner with friends I gave in to my pre-Christmassy mood decorating the tree and dinner table in my apartment.
The cook arrived first and immediately began with the preparations in my kitchen while I wouldn’t stop sneaking around and spying on what was cooking on the stove.
I’ve always found the French custom of serving a pre-dinner aperitif brilliant, so we couldn’t miss out on that! Therefore, as soon as everybody had arrived, we arranged a little welcome drink with a fresh glass of Perrier-Jouët Blanc de Blancs. The liveliest Cuvée composition of the Maison Perrier-Jouët is a big favorite of mine (I always keep a bottle in the fridge) and went perfectly with the selected AKI Prestige Caviar d’Aquitaine Canapés, Mousse of smoked baby eel, Potato fritter, Sour-cream and AKI Prestige Imperial Caviar – the perfect opening for our little culinary adventure. By the way: caviar is not only delicious – it also contains lots of omega 3 and high-quality protein!
For starters we had Lobster-Shrimp-Tartlets, Avocado, Curry oil, crustacean reduction and caviar. It was so delicious! And the sparkling Perrier-Jouët Blanc de Blancs champagne was the ideal combination to the AKI Prestige Caviar d’Aquitaine with its subtle nutty flavour and mild saltiness.
When the main course arrived shortly after, we were greeted by mouth-watering and beautifully dark amber colored AKI Prestige Imperial Caviar and White Halibut Tranche, Mushroom Risotto, Chioggia Radicchio, Perrier-Jouët Sauce and the crisp taste of sparkling Belle Epoque champagne – a real classic. We all felt like in culinary heaven! This caviar from the Osietra Sturgeon is both valued by top gastronomy chefs and gourmets and has a light, mild, crispy taste, which was underlined by the refined Belle Epoque champagne with its full-bodied and refined character.
Who now thought there was nothing to surpass that was proven wrong: in fact dessert was another highlight! Our master chef outdid himself with a sublime creation: Roasted Apple Strudel and Parfait, Christmassy Mousse, Orange Confit and Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque – a sweet surprise and the perfect finale of our gourmet-get-together.
It was a beautiful event and a big success and I made a mental note to do this kind of dinner with friends again sometime, soon!
So no – Champagne and Caviar are not to be limited to special occasions – on the contrary – they make any occasion special! 😉
