To be honest, I was never a fan of culottes, one of the trickiest pants trend to wear. But with a new kind of ’same same but different‘ design and a rocky leather texture I surprised myself falling in love with them. So, see what happened:
me in culottes in France last week! Together with other influencers from Germany I stayed in Cannes to launch the new Dessange Professional Hair Luxury brand, which is amazing and will come to Germany in September.
Afterwards I prolonged my stay for the weekend in the Royal Riviera hotel at Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat. Surrounded by the French flair I chose to wear these modern pants with a French name and styled them in a french way as well. The name ‚culottes‘ describes a split of a garment which hangs like a skirt, but is actually pants. During mid to late nineteenth century, long split skirts were developed for horseback riding so that women could sit astride a horse with a man’s saddle rather than riding side. Later, split skirts were developed to provide women more freedom to do other activities as well and still look lady-like wearing a skirt. These days the culottes are very fashionable for since quite a long time and you can find them almost everywhere.
There is a touch of glam rock in my high-waisted leather culottes from Tigha, detailed with a hook closure. I went for a maximalist approach to the styling, and combined them with this fine striped silk bow tie blouse from Steffen Schraut and my Christian Louboutin pumps.
What do you think about this look? Do you go for culottes as well?
xx Alex
