At my second day in New York I was invited to Tommy Pier – Tommy Hilfiger’s Show at Pier 16 in New York’s South Street Seaport in Lower Manhattan during New York Fashion Week. On Friday, 9th of September, Tommy Hilfiger revealed his collaboration with supermodel and It-girl Gigi Hadid. Together they launched the Tommy by Gigi Hadid capsule collection, titled Tommy X Gigi (#TOMMYxGIGI).

In a spectacular take over of the Pier, they turned the place into a full-blown carnival with dozens of food and gaming booths. An amusement park full of rides, temporary tattoo parlor and cotton candy machines, Gigi’s boxing club, Tilt-a-Whirl and Ferris wheel. It was breathtaking and all of the guests really enjoyed post show.

The setting surely matched the nautical – themed collection that drew on both Hadid’s personal style (statement jackets and slim trousers) and Hilfiger’s classics (logo tees and tracksuits). With nautical motifs, oversized cable knits, thigh-high stockings and a douse of the streetwear they took over the fashion world. I was completely thrilled by the special mix of cool, casual and sexy.

Hadid opened the show herself, wearing a knotted tank, shrunken sailor jacket, fringe neck scarf, and leather pants. From there, models of the moment, including Hailey Baldwin, Taylor Hill, Vittoria Ceretti, Imaan Hammam, Hanne Gaby Odiele, and Lineisy Montero took to the catwalk in nautical-inspired apparel.

Before the show I had the great honor to meet fabulous Olivia Palermo, who descended on the pier next to all the other celebrities like Doutzen Kroes, Kris Jenner and Hadid’s BFF Taylor Swift to name just some of them.

After the show Tommy’s team invited me to go Backstage and watch the shoot of the amazing carousel video with Gigi and the whole Hadid family which was published almost everywhere as a teaser for the upcoming collection.
