WERBUNG – In Collaboration with La Mamounia
Following several other awards in the past this year La Mamounia won yet again the Condé Nast Traveller Award of the renowned premium travel magazine in the USA – not only as best hotel in Africa but also as best hotel worldwide. Having spent my holiday in this stunning place I can only agree with the committees. The La Mamounia is magical and spending time there feels like a fairytale from one thousand and one nights. It bursts with history, traditions and beautiful colors from the orient. Every corner inside and outside offers a chance to taste the charms of Morocco’s fine art of living. I love the oriental atmosphere combined with modern style and luxury.
The wonderful story of La Mamounia actually started in the 12thcentury when the doors opened for the guests in 1923, offering the subtle blend of Arabic Andalusian architecture and deco style. I never know where to look, there just are so many visual experiences with plays of light and beautifully contrasting colors. I am a huge fan of colors and light, they brighten up every day and just make me feel good. So of course, this hotel is my comforting and an inspiring place to be. And this stunning tilework on the floors in Majorelle blue, green and orange – I would love to have a floor like that in my home, so decorative and special.
And you all know my passion and love for flowers and pretty gardens. The La Mamounia is arranged with warm wood outside and lively ponds and fountains arranged around the grounds. One thing I loved to do during my stay was strolling through the gardens and admiring the deliciously smelling tangerine trees and all the local plants. The scents are wonderful and your eyes are spoiled by the beauty of it all. Really a journey of its best for all senses – for the nose there are fragrances of jasmine, orange and blossom and for the taste traditional delicacies such as dates and almond milk. And for your eyes the great architecture and decoration, not much more to ask for.
The restaurants offer amazing food and the service throughout the grounds is incredible – everyone is so friendly and more than eager to read every single wish from your eyes.
You have to be at La Mamounia to understand what I mean.
The Spa area is perfect if you feel like being pampered a bit or you can just relax and do nothing but lying by the pool and enjoying the oriental atmosphere. Or what about a little trip to Le Medina, the old town, and check out the local markets offering all their specialties.
Thanks La Mamounia for spoiling me so much and for making my stay unforgettable! This place is so luxurious and beautiful – if you are ever in Marrakesh, don’t miss out this stunning La Mamounia and taste the spirit and heart of it.
