Oia on the island of Santorini, Greece is an absolute must to for any travelling addict – just like myself. Picturesquely situated on the cliffs on the northern tip of Santorini, the wonderful municipality of Oia nestles against the Aegean Sea. No wonder that basically everyone is ravingabout this charming artist village. The Greek village of Oia is only about 10 square kilometers big but as small as this place is it is overtly popular with many people seeking the perfect holiday spot in Greece. In contrast to Fira, the capital of Santorini, Oia, is usually a bit quieter and more idyllic. I immediately fell in love with the narrow streets and alleys and the numerous cafés and restaurants with their beautiful terraces with wonderful views. Of course, splendid view in Oia is one of a kind but please be aware that this is not an insider tip and you better be early and secure yourself a table in front row when wanting to indulge in the mesmerizing blue ocean during the evening.

When planning my holidays and searching for the perfect place to stay I asked some Greek friends of mine and Oia was their number one recommendation when going to Santorini as in the middle of the rocky coast, along the caldera, really impressive accommodations have been built, or rather carved into the rocks, with one being more beautiful than the other. Some have dreamy infinity pools whilst others score with their simple but traditional architecture in the middle of old caves but what most of them have in common is the amazing view due to the location on top of the volcano.

Me and the group of friends I was traveling with had the amazing honor of staying in one of the island’s most exquisite hotels – the Katikies Hotel Santorini. Inspiring deep emotions of enchantment and fascination, it offers amazing services, a warm atmosphere and sense of romance uniquely combined in an exceptional setting and natural environment. It is the impersonated invitation to experience moments of pure luxury and we had an absolutely extraordinary stay. The hotel really comes across as an emblem of Santorini’s mythical beauty and has an intimate atmosphere of total discretion, stunning architecture and premier service.

Katikies Hotel is ideally situated in Oia, and in case you do not want to frequent one of the beautiful restaurants and cafés for an evening out the several bars and restaurants of the hotel offer amazing food and service and its terraces are just as cozy and exquisite as the rest of the property. Our suites were just perfectly equipped and the private infinity pool was an absolute bliss. I am still reminiscing about the superb in-suite breakfast service and eating breakfast on the terrace next to the pool overlooking the blue ocean.
