Plateau-Pumps – one of Spring/Summer 2022’s biggest trends in footwear! I am sure some of you remember the last wave of the 70s plateau vibe accompanying those lovely bootcut denims in the early 2000s. I have to admit, that I am not head over heels for this trend but as a true fashionistaI am slowly but surely figuring out how I can make it work for me. Plateau-Pumps are super elegant just like every high-heel but features that special twist a strong fashion statement needs. And as most of you know, I would never refrain from wearing a true statement look!
As this kind of footwear prolongs your legs visually – which makes it a predestinated trend for shorter ladies – I think they are the perfect match to beautiful mini dresses with A-line shape. The combination of fit in the shoulders and waist and a flare towards the hem makes that shape super flattering and puts a lot of emphasize on the legs. One might think that this combination could come across a little too provocative but I can reassure you that with the right kind of styling and attitude it is a guarantee for a super classy and stylish look. This being said, it is an absolute must that the short A-line dress is high-necked.

Another possible combination of dress and Plateau-Pumps is a short bodycon dress shape in combination with an oversize blazer which I love to style with a waist belt for the perfect silhouette. In terms of colors, of course there are color combinations that make more of a statement than others. If you really want to drag the eye towards your footwear I’d recommend to mix lighter colored dresses with black Plateau-Pumps to break the color scheme. For a more subtle look going for nude Plateau-Pumps would be my recommendation – maybe a good start for those who have not yet fallen in love with the trend and want to keep it a little more easy in the beginning. A monochrome look featuring Plateau-Pumps in the same colorway as your dress making it a statement look is of course always an option as well.
In case you are not one of those women feeling super comfortable with short dresses I recommend to try the Plateau-Pumps trend in combination with either a pair of bootcut denim, a pair of full length wide-leg pants or even a skirt in full length hiding the shoe itself as this makes your legs appear endless. A beautiful detail when it comes to Plateau-Pumps are ankle straps. This delicate small feature is making the shoe look sophisticated whilst giving it an elegant touch which I appreciate a lot.
