Kimono wrap dresses are big this year fashion wise and they are inspired by the traditional Japanese Kimono – a very elegant and easy to wear piece. You can find wonderful designs made of beautiful silk material and decorated with amazing patterns inspired from the Asian culture. These are – most of the time – flowers and animals in beautiful colors and prints. I really enjoy the fine material of Kimono wrap dresses that lets them fall so nicely around the body. The dresses are elegant and colorful – both details I love to wear and show. As you know I am a big fan of Kimonos and I wear them a lot this season. I really enjoy playing with this fashion piece and to wear it in different kind of ways.
Here you can see me leaving it open over a cool jeans outfit. My casual and cool denim look gets a very elegant touch and the colors harmonize so nicely with the rest of my look. This Kimono wrap dress is from Zara in a beautiful blue tone with red and orange flowers and bird motifs. I chose an open style with a sexy red silk tank top from Jadicted. The two elegant silky pieces match perfectly and it’s as if they were made for each other. My jeans are Levi’s Wedgie Icon Fit jeans in dark blue in a slim fit frayed on the bottom. A nice contrast to the fine top!
Wearing the Kimono dresses open is a fashion challenge I love to have quite often. I style it either with jeans – no matter if a short or long pair – or with a cute skirt. It just depends on the mood and the wheather. My opinion is they look best with tank tops, they leave enough space to show a little shoulder and to let the Kimono hang loose. Shoes wise you can vary between flats or high heels, again you can just choose the style you feel most comfortable in. In this picture I slipped into my cognac ‚So Kate‘ high heels from Christian Louboutin, picking up the color red in the famous sole.
My handbag is the Heritage Drawstring from MCM . The heritage collection is reliably chic and timeless in shape, structure and style. It is made in Italy from Visetos printed coated canvas. The cool logo print is all over the bag and the size gives enough space for all my essentials.
I don’t need a lot of accessories with this outfit but sunglasses can never miss out on a sunny day. These mirrored sunglasses are from Thom Browne and the gold reflects in the sun.
I hope I could inspire you with my styling of a Kimono wrap dress – go ahead and invent your personal wrap dress look!
