What better thing to do in Winter than to spend a weekend in beautiful St. Moritz, Switzerland? I love this place and want to give you a little insider guide on what St. Moritz has to offer during a weekend get-away end of January. St. Moritz to me is the most iconic and luxurious alpine resort and located in the valley of Engadine. It was the birthplace of alpine winter tourism and sports, the venue of two Winter Olympics and numerous skiing and bobsleigh world championships. This time, I stayed at the famous Suvretta House – the pinnacle of quality, style, and cordiality. At this absolutely unique hotel the tradition of genuine hospitality is very much alive. It’s a place where you can arrive and be yourself in every respect. If you’re a fan of skiing and snowboarding you’ll love to hear that the Suvretta House is the only hotel in St. Moritz offering direct access to the superb Corviglia ski area.

For more than 100 years the Suvretta House is fascinating its guests with a blend of rare and very unique benefits like the exceptional location, the breathtaking views of the Upper Engadine, and its heartwarming hospitality. At 1850 metres above sea level, it is perched on an elevated plateau just like a fairy-tale castle.

After our arrival we started the weekend with a lunch at the mountain restaurant TRUTZ which is famous for its impressive view over the Upper Engadine lake landscape. After spending the afternoon enjoying the sun, the view and good company it was time to indulge in good food again. This time at the charming restaurant Chasellas which is part of Suvretta House just like the TRUTZ. With its 45 indoor seats and an inviting sun terrace it is situated directly at the entrance to the ski and hiking area. For dinner, the Chasellas pleases the desires of gourmets with great culinary delights on 15 points Gault Millau. Head chef Marco Kind’s artful skills are characterised by his preference for regional and seasonal ingredients as well as his penchant for mediterranean cuisine and pasta. He never loses sight of the culinary style the Chasellas stands for and I can confirm, as I have been a guest at this beautiful place many times before. We closed the 1^st evening with drinks and dancing at the legendary Dracula Club…

After a wonderful breakfast the next day had one highlight following the other starting off with a visit at the Louis Vuitton St Moritz & Yurt Pop-Up. The iconic Louis Vuitton monogram adorns the outer shell of the yurt which blends in perfectly with the surroundings whilst still standing out. Light wood, eggshell-colored seating and a cone-shaped, open fireplace is what awaits you inside the yurt and invites you to spend some time discovering the latest collection’s pieces and beloved classics. Probably, one of the best pop-ups I have seen so far…

After some light lunch we went to watch some snow polo. Did you know, that every last weekend in January, St. Moritz turns into the world capital of polo? Since 1985, which was the year when snow polo had its world premiere here, teams from around the world compete for the Snow Polo World Cup St. Moritz on the frozen lake of St. Moritz. I still remember my 1st time visiting this absolutely unique event – and am a fan ever since!

After getting back to the hotel and getting all ready it was about time for one of the things I love to do the most – having dinner! As you might know one of my favorite cuisines is Italian and there is no place better to enjoy Italian delicacies in St. Moritz than the Chesa Veglia – Pizzeria Heuboden. As the name indicates, Italian delicacies are served in an old hayloft of a farmhouse. An absolute must go when visiting St. Moritz! A question to all my fellow pizza lovers: Have you ever heard of the Dama Bianca? The Dama Bianca has to be the best-known pizza in St. Moritz. In place of tomatoes, the irresistible white Grand Dame is topped with lots of truffles, savory parmesan and delicate buffalo mozzarella. And as one needs to celebrate when feeling as such we ended also this evening with drinks and dancing at the Dracula Club. Our last day started with a long breakfast and continued with one last mountain adventure before heading back to our beloved home – a visit at the prestigious mountainside venue of Paradiso Mountain Club & Restaurant. With stunning views over the Alps, the Paradiso Mountain Club & Restaurant is a spot not to miss out. A place to enjoy good music, good food, good wine – and good company.
