The Mexicaba bag by the famous and wonderful designer Christian Louboutin is a real piece of artwork and there is a beautiful story all around it. The Mexican style is a declaration of love from Christian Louboutin to the diversity of the country. Through various trips he gathered a lot of stuff in the Mexican design and he filled his house with it. To quote the designer himself he talks about the rich heritage the country carries, from the indigenous side to the Spanish – who arrived later. The mix of the two amazing cultures bring up stunning embroideries and colors, pagan motifs of wild animals and even images of death – but taken in such an easy way that they aren’t scary at all.

The Mexicaba was created through the collaboration of Christian Louboutin and the Taller Maya – part of Fundación Haciendas del Mundo Maya – which has a record of helping those in the Yucatan Peninsula to preserve their unique craft. Authentic craftsmanship and culture should be supported to help it survive in the fast living world. Locals come together to work in purpose built, safe and friendly environment, all arranged around the demands of motherhood and family life.

I love the commitment to a beautiful culture and its inhabitants – and to support artisanship. Christian Louboutin donates 10 percent of each sale of Mexicaba directly to the foundation. I really had to tell you the beautiful background of this amazing bag in order to understand the beauty and the great commitment.

To describe this piece of beauty, the Mexicaba carries features panels of eye-popping hand-woven, vivid Mayan embroidery, bone beads, fashioned form the horns of bull cattle and wooden beads painted with mythical beast motifs. This is not just an object of art, the bag has a direct and positive social impact on the gifted artisans who helped bring it to life. The Mexicaba features a little poupette bag charm, dressed in Paris, accessorized in Italy but yet made by the women of CSAO (Company of Senegal and Western Africa). As you can see this is not just a bag it is art with a most beneficial outcome.

You can see me presenting the Mexicaba with a pink cashmere turtleneck from Heartbreaker. The pink is stunning and the woven details are classy. But most of all I enjoy the warm and soft fabric around me. My must have – a good cashmere piece like this one – on any trip. My jeans are by Adriano Goldschmied, a nice blue pair of jeans that matches the outfit perfectly. As you can see all pieces I am wearing are in colors of the amazing bag. The red over knees from Gianvito Rossi are another cool eye-catcher and I love the mix of these strong colors. They spread energy and love.

The sunglasses are from Thom Browne in a soft brown tone, keeping it simple on the top.

Thank you for coming with me on the long and interesting trip and story of the Mexicaba bag from Christian Louboutin – I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.
