Werbung – in cooperation with Blome Uhren
Blome Uhren in my hometown Düsseldorf, Germany, is the place I trust when it comes to timepieces ever since I bought my 1st watch ages ago. It has been the first address for luxury watches in Düsseldorffor decades which is even a little longer than my personal friendship with the Blome family lasts. Blome Uhren is located in the center of Düsseldorf on Königsallee and owned by my good friend Nicole Blome, who runs this company together with her sister Christine in third generation. A classic family business so to say founded almost 75 years ago. Every visit at Blome Uhren to me is a special happening and I am excited to be able to give you a little glimpse behind the scenes of this place that is so special to me! Their whole story began shortly after world war two in 1947. Nicole and Christine’s grandfather was luckily able to hide and by that save all of his watchmaker’s tools during war. This way, he and his wife were able to settle down a little further down the road of where Blome Uhren is located today on Königsallee to open a shop when the war was finally over. They did not only sell watches back then, but also jewelry, whereas today Blome Uhren is dedicated to outstanding timepieces only.
1968, when the Kö Center was built, Blome Uhren moved to this even more Kö-central location and this is where still located today. Besides the beautiful watch shop there is a lot going on behind the scenes.
A very impressive part of Blome Uhren is their watchmaking repair studio. Having an own repair studio is something very special these days and Blome Uhren’s repair studio is unique in Germany in terms of size and number of employees when it comes to family run watchmaking businesses. Out of the 18 employees of Blome Uhren 7 are horologists, i.e. a very high proportion emphasizing the fact that they are focusing on the whole lifecycle of your unique timepiece and not only on selling it. In the studio cost estimates are calculated, timepieces are repaired or complete overhauls are carried out and even grandfather clocks are repaired. The repair studio is also the home of a very special machine. The so-called cube comes from the pharmacy environment, which the team from Blome Uhren converted and use as a spare parts store. It contains all the spare parts that you need to use and install in modern clockworks. This is super exciting because every horologist has a computer at her or his table and can call up the spare parts directly from there. These are then booked directly in the repair department and the machine collects everything for the horologists so that they can pick it up at the drop-off point, go back to the station and then continue working. I was really impressed to see this ingenious system and get some insights into the highly complex profession of watchmaking!
To me watches are something really special as many of you surely know. They are constant companions and one of the most sophisticated accessories you can wear. What I cherish a lot is that besides the highly personal service and extensive knowledge of all manufacturers and you can feel that to the team of Blome Uhren it is a matter close to their hearts to find the watch that suits you and your life best. Their mission is to support you in finding a lifelong perfect match and that is a lovely one I think! Besides the wonderful watches Blome Uhren offers outstanding service and accessories such as alternative wrist bands to give your favorite piece a totally different look or a fashionable color pop to match. I hope you enjoyed this look behind the scenes of my one-stop-shop when it comes to amazing timepieces and that I aroused your interest in visiting Blome Uhren if you should ever get the chance to!
