I am of the firm believe that the kitchen is one of the most important rooms in an apartment. I love my kitchen and I wanted the room of my new to-be-rented-out apartment to be a place to gather. A cozy space to spend time in.
And finally, this kitchen by THELEN DRIFTE is set up!
The kitchen before …
… and after!
I can’t wait to give you all the details about the new kitchen but upfront I want to give you a few insights on THELEN DRIFTE. It’s a family-owned business founded in 1726 still being run by the founding family. There are several THELEN DRIFTE stores and they offer interior concepts for all budgets as they have their own carpentry to manufacture custom-made interior solutions and furniture.
To plan the kitchen properly Mr. Thelen visited me in the apartment and measured the room in person to be able to set up a 3D plan of the new cabinets. This made it so much easier to visualize what this room will look like when it is finally done.
As I will rent this apartment out I decided, based on Mr. Thelen’s recommendation, to go for materials with high longevity and a modern yet timeless look which I think I managed very well with the beautiful black kitchen that build in.
To increase storage space, I decided to install a ceramic hob with an integrated exhaust hood. As a result, I was able to have more wall units installed which I think was a clever move as this way the resident-to-be will have lots of storage space.
In the window corner there was a little wall cupboard which we replaced with a nice cupboard with a mirrored back wall. It appears to be the perfect space for an espresso machine and will host the cutlery unit. We integrated lots of sockets as you can never have enough of those and I am really fond of the nice lighting concept which supports the coziness factor of the new kitchen.
Besides the usual kitchen appliances like fridge and stove Mr. Thelen had the clever idea to integrate the washer-dryer into the cabinets as well. This way, the quite small bathroom has gained a bit of space and I think the way the washer-dryer is built-in and covered by a cabinet door is a super smart way of doing.
Opposite of the new black kitchen by THELEN DRIFTE I will place a nice custom-made high-table with two chairs. Here I imagine the resident-to-be to have the 1st coffee in the morning, read the newspaper, check mails before starting off into a great day.
